Description: Please review all pictures for overall condition and size, as this helps form the overall condition/description of the item. Wear is consistent with age and use. Album's front cover is missing, has the back cover, pages have become unbound and loose. Some photos have come out of thenholders. The black paper of the pages is brittle and dry. The photos in general are NOT glued down but some are stuck in the holders. Some of them have writing/info on the back, some with dates. The album looks to follow the Soldier's journey from training, possibly war games, on a leave pass, shipping out, all the way to Okinawa and the "Fireworks" artillery display at the end of the war (which is a great picture with a few of them). There's all sorts of great photos, two excellent aerial views of one of the Airfield and all of the bombers, pictures of the Sikorsky R-4 helicopter being used in the Battle of Okinawa, an awesome one of some soldiers hanging out in a bunker that has rifles lined up on the walls, some crazy ones showing the before and after views of places that got bombed out. There's a bunch of different sized photos. There is about 367 photos, give or take a few. There's some pictures from Barre, Massachusetts and we think the Soldier's name who's album it is, is Charles Wyman. It is on the back of some of the photos (Chas. Short for Charles) and the same guy is pictured throughout. Looks like his buddy Fritz Swanson is pictured a bunch and also a "Nicky Borelli" we think Nicholas Borelli. Borelli was also from Barre. Both Wyman and Borelli enlisted at Fort Devens, Massachusetts for the Army in the National Archives and are actually on the World War 2 monument in the center of Barre, Massachusetts. I live close by and took a photo of the actual monument with their names on it, Nicholas Borelli is the lower left side and Charles Wyman is the lower right. We haven't been able to figure out exactly what Battalion they were with but it seems like Army Anti aircraft artillery/artillery in general. They look to have trained in Georgia and California, possibly with other Artillery groups including the 486th AA (there's a picture of Wyman standing in front of the Base sign). There is also the 840th AAA Battalion in some of the photos with it written on the back. Whoever they were with, they ending up in the Pacific and Okinawa for sure. Clearly some photos from Okinawa. So that's all we were able to figure out about the person who most likely owned the photo album and/or some of the people in the photos. A very unique look inside of the life of a World War 2 Artillery man. Please message us with any questions, or if you have any information about these Soldiers.
