The "Shiden Kai," a Interceptor, was not yet complete as a fighter. By making major modifications to the "Shiden," such as the bottom wing layout, it became a realistic fighter and fought hard mainly in the defense of the mainland. After its official adoption in January 1945, it was expected to be the successor to the Zero fighter, but due to intensified air raids and other factors, only less than 400 were produced. This metal kit is an elaborate model based on the data of the aircraft flown by Captain Sunao Kanno, commander of the 301st squadron of the 343rd Naval Air Squadron (2nd generation), which was the only squadron to operate the Shiden Kai and achieved great results in battle.
