Description: FROM THE VAULT OF THESASQUATCH COMICS EXCHANGE "When it comes from The Vault, you know it's special." ADAM HUGHES is a remarkable talent whose signature style has transformed many a Modern Age comics heroine into an instant - and highly collectable - cover girl. While much of Hughes' latest cover art has been for Marvel, his most valued and recognized work was for DC Comics during the late 1990's and throughout the first decade of the 2000's. To many fans and collectors, Hughes may most notably be known for his run as the regular cover artist for Catwoman (Vol 3), which he began in 2005 with Catwoman #44 (Jun 2005) and concluded with the final issue of the series, Catwoman #83 (Mar 2010). Prior to Catwoman, Hughes had a fantastic cover run on Wonder Woman (Vol 2), the series written and illustrated by George Perez that relaunched DC's iconic heroine in 1987 in the aftermath of the mid-1980's mega-event, Crisis on Infinite Earths. Indeed, Wonder Woman was the title to which DC brought its best artistic talents to bear. Succeeding Perez were Phil Jimenez, Brian Bolland and John Byrne, and then, after Byrne, came Adam Hughes. Beginning his overall run with Wonder Woman #139 (Dec 1998), Hughes created a total of 48 covers for the series, most of them consecutively with just ta few short breaks between his longest runs. [Specifically, covers by Hughes are as follows: #139-146, #150-161, #164-174, #176-178, and #184-197.] Two and half years later after Hughes left the title to begin his stint on Catwoman, Wonder Woman (Vol 2) came to an end with Issue #226 in February of 2006. Wonder Woman (Vol 3) quickly followed, a series helmed by DC favorite Gail Simone. After 44 issues, DC converted Wonder Woman to her own Legacy numbering in June of 2010 to coincide with both the 75th Anniversary of DC Comics and, as it happened, the 600th published issue of Wonder Woman's solo series. A double-sized if not super-sized issue filled with five different Wonder Woman stories, the issue's main feature was penned by Simone and returned George Perez to pencils and as regular cover artist. Given that the issue also celebrated DC's 75th, the publisher brought Adam Hughes back to the title to create its Variant Cover, which he did in full-color and which DC published as an Incentive 1:25 Variant. DC also published a B&W version of Hughes' cover as a 1:75 Variant, making Wonder Woman one of four DC titles to receive a B&W Variant Edition in conjunction with the 75th Anniversary event. Keeping in line with the other DC 75th Anniversary Variants, all of which were Homages to classic DC covers featuring their specific characters, Hughes' Variant paid tribute to the cover of the book that featured Wonder Woman's historic second appearance, Sensation Comics #1 (Vol 1, Jan 1942), with cover art by Jon Blummer and Harry G. Peter. * * * * * A comic this special, we think, deserves a bit of history lesson - or at least a heart-felt introduction, don't you agree? And this copy is special; indeed, whether you're a Wonder Woman fan or collector or a collector of Adam Hughes cover art in general or of just his rarest Variants, WONDER WOMAN #600 is an uncategorical 'Must-Have'. As much as for its relative rarity as well as it effectively serving as the cover that topped off Hughes' phenomenal run on the series, the Incentive 1:25 Color Art Variant Cover is a true piece of art that stands proudly on its own. And the copy available here is an undeniable gem: virtually untouched and never read, in estimated NM/M (9.8) condition and preserved in mylar since nearly the moment it was released. We say "nearly" because ADAM HUGHES had to have a moment to SIGN his cover, which he did (as he always does) by writing his initials on the front cover. We include the COA created by the owner of Comics Utopia, the location where Hughes' signed the book back in 2010 and from whom we obtained the copy all those years ago. A true gem and sure to be a highlight of any collection, not to mention a certain "win" if submitted for third-party grading, SASQUATCH COMICS is proud to offer this very rare SIGNED COPY of Wonder Woman #600 by Adam Hughes to eBay collectors.
