Description: [PICKFORD, MARY]. WEBER, LENORA MATTINGLY. Wind On the Prairie. Boston: Little, Brown, 1929. First Edition. Signed presentation copy from Lenora M. Weber to silent film star, Mary Pickford, warmly inscribed by the author on the half-title: “With every good wish from one who ditched many an afternoon at school to see a Mary Pickford picture. Lenora Weber.” Additionally signed by Mary Pickford on the front pastedown: “Best wishes, Mary Pickford.” and including Miss Pickford’s stamp on the front free endpaper: “Mary Pickford Studios, Hollywood, Cal.” With an ownership signature. Illustrated by Kurt Weise. Very good copy with a touch of edge wear and very minor rubbing to the cloth at the spine, not affecting the lettering, without dust jacket. The front board is illustrated with a black stamp design of a cute little prairie dog sitting on his haunches whistling playing a small flute. A Western-themed story featuring the adventures of a young girl named Mary Kettering. Mary Pickford was one of the great first ladies of American motion pictures, who in nearly 200 film roles created an amazing body of work in such classics as The Poor Little Rich Girl, Rebecca of Sunnybrook Farm, Daddy Longlegs, and more.
