Description: this is handmade by a Bulgarian craftsman using a unique jewelry technique filigree. Filigree is a form of intricate metalwork used in jewelry and other small forms of metalwork. To create truly amazing jewelry, ancient masters used many unusual techniques. One of the most difficult ways to decorate is filigree, especially revered in ancient Russia. The filigree technique of precious metals uses color combinations with different materials: precious and semi-precious stones, enamel, silver, glass and wood. One of the most refined and expensive pieces of goldsmithing from the Renaissance era, they were made of pure silver and gilded with an openwork filigree technique. The material used in this technique – drawn wire threads and beads – determines the character and structure of the filigree decoration. Nowadays, the traditions of this technique are preserved and used in the "Souvenirs and Jewelry" cooperative in the town of Berkovitsa. The cooperative was founded in the sixties of the last century by Teodor Spasov, who studied the art of filigree at the Chiprov school. Today, the cooperative employs only ten women, who continue to make fine jewelry and objects, combining traditional motifs and modern design.
