Description: I bought this back in the early 1980s from a bicycle collector who was helping me restore my black phantom. He said he found it in a small bicycle shop in northern Michigan. One look at it, and I knew I had to have it. Why, hey come on, where in the world are you ever going to find a vintage new old stock Schwinn horn tank complete with a Delta horn. I always intended to display it, but never did. I brought it home, wrapped it in a beach towel and stored it in a box, which is where it’s been ever since. As I mentioned, I was told it was new old stock which I have no reason to doubt. I have taken pictures inside and out so you can judge for yourself. I had never opened it up, so I was a little hesitant, as I didn’t want to scratch it, but I knew buyers would want to see the inside. I put batteries in the horn and tried it, but it didn’t work, but there is an adjustment screw on the back of the vibrator that with a little adjustment, I’m sure you could get the horn to work. I’ll leave that for the next owner to fool around with. I didn’t want to take a chance on scratching the finish. The tank and the horn are near mint, with the only flaw being a small split on one end of the tank (see photos). It is for a 26” bike. I don’t know what model, but maybe one of you Schwinn experts can tell from the color scheme. So if you are a Schwinn collector and are looking for once in a lifetime find, here it is. I’m going to send it in the beach towel that’s it’s been wrapped in all these years. Bubble wrap, too, of course. If you have any questions let me know.
