Description: Vintage I.Magnin baby sweater, dating from the 1930's. Made of very soft fine wool. The trim around the neck, cuffs and hem seem to perhaps be angora as they are a bit more downy and even softer. The sweater is marked "Hand Sewed Finest Yarn, Made in USA". The tag on the side of the sweater states "Made Under Knitted Outdoor Code Authority HWB Hand Made 178 NRA Code". I had at first thought this sweater was 1940's as I believed it was originally my aunts, but apparently it would have been made between June 1933- May 1935. The tag on the side denoting the NRA code tells me that it was part of the National Recovery Administration that was a part of the New Deal to help the American economy recover from the Great Depression. The sweater is in used vintage good condition. There is one small hold on the front side of the sweater, there is some discoloration that is minor. All the seams of the sweater are perfectly strong and intact. The I.Magnin tag needs to be secured on one side if you wish. There is pilling as to be expected. Please check photos carefully for all these details. The chest measures just under 8 1/2" and the length is 10". Please verify but I expect that this sweater is for approximately a 3-6 month old.
