Description: Up for sale is a beautiful Dexter-Russell #5288 meat cleaver in very good, used condition. This was one of many knives that was part of a sharpening company’s backlog that was never picked up or sold after being cleaned up All of the “old” inventory left behind was dressed with cosmoline and wrapped with butcher paper to preserve them. Underneath that smelly layer of grease was this wonderful and heavy duty cleaver. The spine thickness is close to 3/16” which is really heavy duty. I’d say it’s over 2lbs in weight. It has some pits from previous rust that was removed. The blade was dressed/sharpened and overall it retained a nice shine. The handle scales appears to be mahogany or rosewood, attached with brass pins. There’s a slight crack on one side but it’s just to the first pin. Overall is measures 14 1/2” with a blade that measures approximately 7” x 4”.
