The City of Light On the Plaza of Light at the New York World's Fair 1940. New York: Consolidated Edison Company of New York, Inc., 1940. (24) pages; black and white folding plate photograph of the exhibit bound at back; the exhibit was presented on a stage as long as a city block...an imaginative dream view of the entire city from the farthermost tip of Brooklyn to distant Westchester and reaching from the sky to far below the surface of the earth...in this great diorama, "The City of Light," by means of a new and elaborate synchronization of light, sound action, music and the human voice, we try to create the illusion of watching this great city live through twenty-four exciting hours of daylight and darkness, sunshine and storm. In a few minutes we give you the drama of one day in the life of the greatest and most amazing city in the world...", the cancel stub for the plate at front. Illustrated throughout and presenting very direct promotion for the economical and clean use of electricity provided by Con Edison. Harrison and Fouilhoux, were the architects; Walter Dorwin Teague, designer; Alexander Calder designed the water ballet; Fernand Leger responsible for the exterior mural.
