Please excuse any glare in the photos. This rustic pottery mug has a glossy glaze in splotchy brown and yellow. One side features a carved tiki god face. The mug is crude yet charming and whimsical. The cup stands approximately 5 3/8 inches tall, and it is about 3 inches wide and 3 1/8 inches long. It weighs 13.4 ounces, unpacked. This would be a fabulous addition to a collection of vintage tiki bar memorabilia. Identification The mug is marked on the back side, "Trader Vic's Hawaii." The mug is vintage, but the exact age is not known. Although not marked as such, this mug has the distinctive look of pieces made by Polynesian Pottery, and it was likely made at that studio. Condition The mug looks very good overall, with light wear and no chips or cracks. As made, the mug has a rustic/crude quality to it, with manufacturing flaws such as glazed-over firing fissures/fractures, indents, pits, mold lines, and extra clay bits. This was not made to be technically perfect. Kiln stilt pull marks beneath are also as made, as are variations in glaze application and minor shape asymmetry.
