Description: The Story of the Fifth Element Directed by Luc Besson (Japanese Print); l'Historie du Cinquieme Element Mise en Scene de Luc Besson. This is an extremely rare, amazing book about the making of the cult classic 90's sci-fi film The Fifth Element. It encompasses 250 pages absolutely packed with gorgeous art and extremely in-depth looks at the making of the film. The first 131 pages are devoted to the behind the scenes of making the film. I have read a lot of these books and this is one of the most detailed. It presents the film week-by-week with the original shot list, story of that week's shoot written by director Luc Besson himself, and behind the scenes photos of those scenes. It also includes Leeloo's language glossary so you can understand exactly what she says in the movie, Cannes trip photos, marketing, and more. The rest of the book (119 pages) is nothing but concept, production, and fashion costume art from the Masters of the day like fashion designer Jean-Paul Gaultier (costume design), comic artist Jean-Claude Mèziéres (concept artist), and comic artist Jean Giraud Moebius (concept artist). Pages and pages of full-sized plates of amazing art and design. This book is an absolute must for any fan of this film, film-making, or concept art. Note this is the Japanese release of this book so all text is in Japanese. If you do not read Japanese, you can use an image translator app. Even without the text, this is worth it alone for the tons of behind the scenes photos and monster sized section of concept art. 250 pages, 10.75" x 10.75", full color, Japanese text, softcover with dust jacket. Dust jacket was produced for the Japanese version (that is not a feature of the English version). Tight binding with pristine pages. Book or dust jacket may have minor age wear like rubbed edges or corners, light scratches, or pressure marks. There is a larger pressure mark on the back jacket and cover (last image). Please see photos and ask any questions you have.
