Stated First Edition, first printing (printing number line has a 1 as low number). ISBN 0876901445. 127 pages with black and white photos throughout. Trade paperback. The author and her husband have both signed the book on the half title page using blue ink pens. Helen flat signed the book, with no inscription, as "Helen K. Nearing". Scott signed at a right angle to Helen's signature, along the spine and added a humorous inscription, which reads: "And on the side Scott". Scott would have been 90 or 91 when the book came out. Pictures of their lives together in Maine and Vermont, as well as some pictures from their earlier days and childhoods. The Nearings were known for simple living, homesteading, and vegetarianism later in life. Scott was known earlier as an academic who worked for the Socialist and Communist parties and advocated for pacifism. Given the book was published in the mid 70s, this fit in well with the back to nature movements popular at the time. Interestingly, Wikipedia's article on Scott mentions that he and Helen had banked substantial inheritances prior to their homesteading, and had ample income from those.
