Description: THE BIG STEAL (1949) Robert Mitchum, Jane Greer Film Noir 3-Sheet - FANTASTIC! Coming two years after their starring roles in Out of the Past (1947), film noir icons Robert Mitchum (A Man of Ice!) and Jane Greer (A Woman of Fire!) were re-teamed by RKO in another film noir, this time directed by the great Don Siegel (Invasion of the Body Snatchers, Dirty Harry, The Shootist) early in his career. Mitch is robbed of an army payroll. He’s in hot pursuit of the criminal to Mexico, but trailed by his superior (William Bendix), who suspects him. Big Bob teams up with Jane who’s also after the perp. Filmed in LA and Mexico, the pic was pushed out after Mitchum’s arrest on marijuana charges to capitalize on his growing popularity and “bad boy’ image. This light, action-packed noir was a bit more of a romp than their previous film and proved to be a big hit. Sadly, it was just the second and last time Mitchum and Greer were co-stars. CONDITION: This three-sheet is super clean for a poster of this size and one that is 75 years old. No tack holes, masking or cellophane tape. One tiny tear of about an inch or so in the white area repaired by archival document tape. A tiny bit of wear at the cross-folds, but you could easily display it as-is or have it linen-backed. (The yellowing in the lower left is from my camera.) This is a knock-out poster and a real statement piece no matter how you slice it. Frankly, the buy-it-now price is great, but you can also make me an offer. Buyer pays $15 for Priority Mail insured shipping. More to come over the next few weeks. I combine shipping.
