The book was published in 2013 by Charles Winthrope, though it is the type of facsimile that has no modern publishing credit within. It features the original format: large, gilt and ink-impressed blue cloth boards, and very high quality paper. The book is gilted all the way around the text block (to keep dust out.) This wonderful book comes with a special bonus: a full-sized modern reproduction of an actual pictorial newspaper ad from the February 27, 1885 Baltimore American, advertising a reading by Twain and the novelist George Cable, known as the first modern Southern writer. Also included is an envelope from the publisher containing expert notes on the novel, publisher's comments on the facsimile, and a reprinting of a variety of Twain-related ads and reviews of the 19th century. In excellent, perhaps unread condition with some light smudges on the outside of the publisher's envelope (please see pics.) Very tight and square binding, excellent hinges, very clean, bright and crisp text. 275 pages, plus 4 pages of ads.
