Description: For sale is a vinyl record by Pierre Monteux conducting the Boston Symphony Orchestra titled "Tchaikovsky Symphony No. 4", originally released in 1960 by RCA Victor Red Seal Records. This is a first pressing with red labels, with "RCA VICTOR" in white at the top, along with a full bodied picture of "Nipper", the RCA logo dog, underneath with darker shading behind him, commonly called a "Shaded Dog" pressing. On the bottom of the label is "LONG 33 1/3 PLAY". Inside the dead wax between these labels and the last tracks is etched the matrix numbers 3-S/3-S, followed by a machine stamped upper case "H", indicating that early stampers were used to press this record at RCA Records' pressing plant located in Hollywood, California. These are hallmarks of state-of-the-art engineering, sought after by collectors and music lovers for their superior sound qualities. I bought this album used, professionally cleaned it on my VPI HW-17 machine and immediately put it into an archival inner sleeve. Doing this protects the integrity of the vinyl and any original inner sleeve that may have come with the release. The inner sleeve is graded as Good Plus because of foxing and small tears along the top opening. The cover is graded as Excellent because of very minor corner blunts and sticker residue on the top right hand corner of the front cover. The vinyl is visually graded as Near Mint, with surfaces that are shiny and bright, in a like-new condition, without any surface scratches, sleeve marks, scuffs, smudges or spindle marks on the labels. I'm play grading this record as Near Mint Minus because of occasional ultra low level surface noise, most noticeable during the quiet sections of playback. It plays all the way through without skips, pops or lock-ups from start to finish. This would make a great addition to anyone's collection. I have more Classical albums, as well as records of all genres in my Ebay store. Please take a look. They're predominately in Near Mint condition. Thank you for viewing my listing. I've been collecting records for about 50 years now and have always cleaned them and put them away carefully in archival inner sleeves. Over the years I've used Dust Bugs, Disc Washers and have finally invested in a professional VPI record cleaning machine. Now that I'm retiring, I'm selling my very esoteric collection. I'm not a professional grader of records, but will use record guides, as well as my personal experiences as a basis of my grading all records. Since grading is subjective, I will be conservative. I offer discounts for multiple sales. Photos are of the actual item for sale, not a stock photo. Please review all descriptions and photos because I do not accept returns. Thank you for looking!
