Description: Maker: This gorgeous and rare antique Limoges cake plate has the white ware mark number 9 of H&Co - the iconic Limoges firm Haviland & Co. - and the Haviland decorator's mark number 17. Age: The green H&Co white ware mark over the letter L for Limoges was in use between 1876 and 1889. Source: Haviland: A Pattern Identification Guide by Bob Page, Dale Frederiksen and Dean Six. The blue circle Haviland & Co Limoges decorator's mark was used between 1879 and 1889. Source: Third edition of the Collector's Encyclopedia of Limoges Porcelain by Mary Frank Gaston. That means this plate was produced between 1879 and 1889, making it at least 133 years old and perhaps older. Design: It's on the elegant Haviland blank called Rope, with lovely pink trim, inset handles and finely painted grey florals. The pattern number 2025-1-M is handwritten in red on other pieces in this set, but not on this cake plate. Size: The plate is 9 1/2 inches wide and weighs 1 pound 1 ounce. Condition: It's in excellent condition with no marks, nicks, cracks, scratches, stains, discoloration, repairs or significant wear. Please check all the photos very carefully - they are an important part of the description.
