Registered Jerusalem 18-0208 [see 3] The back indicates that the letter is from the Jewish Agency for Palestine. The Tel Aviv postmark on the back looks like 19 June 1948, around the time of the first convoy. [see third reverse photograph]. 10 Jerusalem to Tel Aviv. Straight Line handstamp looks to be dated 10 May 1948. Registered Jerusalem 4-0195 and reaches Tel Aviv 21 Jun 1948 and would be another item in the first armoured convoy. On the back], see fourth reverse photograph at end] two Jerusalem postmarks and Tel Aviv arrival postmark. [with a Tel Aviv arrival post].11 Registered Jerusalem 18-0841 [see 3] with 25, 10 and 5 mils sent to Tel Aviv. The Jerusalem special postmarks were used on 16 May 1948 only, with English, and also the Hebrew inscription doar yerushalayim. The Tel Aviv arrival postmark is 21 June 194 [sharp] which indicates the first convoy. 12 Registered Jerusalem 18-0063 [see 3] which might make this cover early in relation to the issue of the stamps. But the Jerusalem postmarks are those 16 May 1948. The sender as printed on the reverse is an architect and the business address is in Haifa described as reclamation. Maybe the counter was reset?13 Looking at the reverse of the letter, the printed address of the sender is Jerusalem, but there are no postmarks on the reverse. On the front there is mixed franking of a 10 mil coin stamp and a 10 mil maps stamp. As the letter is addressed to Ramat Gan and the arrival postmark in Tel Aviv is showing 2 July 1948 which might indicate a convoy letter.14 Jerusalem to Jerusalem. Registered Jerusalem 6-3830 [see 6] All of the postmarks are hard to decipher. Sent to a Dr Werner Nissel in Jerusalem. One of the two on the reverse is slightly better but only the last three letters of Jerusalem can be deciphered. You can faintly see there are two rings, about the same as the top postmark on the front in this respect.15 Sent Herzlia to Tel Aviv with mixed franking. There is a Tel Aviv postmark on the back - two rings with two stars - and also a more basic “arrival” type postmark on the back but can only distinguish a possible v at the end which would probably be Tel Aviv and a small smudge by a 5 May 1948 inside so may be 5 or 15 or 25 May 1948.16 Jerusalem to Tel Aviv There is only one 10 mil stamp on this and no other postmarks than the now bilingual one across the stamp and a pencil note above that reads 24 June 1948. The back is blank apart from the senders address on the reverse of the envelope. Hopefully it arrived safely.17 The local 5 mil stamp is stated as third issue and has a slanted overprint It is also stated that the 10 and 25 mils are second issue stamps. They have been used on 11 August 1948 which is late as most local issues were not to be used after the end of July. This mail is sent to Rehovot and at that end receives a 20 mil postage due. The Rehovot postmark on the reverse is clear and sharp apart from the “date” part before the “? 8 1948”.18 Letter from Haifa to Haifa. Haifa Registered 12-2621. This map stamp has no value on it. It appears to be expertized on the tab. Nothing on the reverse. 19 Cover from Bnei Brak to Tel Aviv with a pair of 5 mils. Nothing on the back. Lastly Also included is a 25th Anniversary of Minhelet Haam Interim postage. Note: overseas buyers will be liable for any additional taxes and or duties as per Global Program
