Description: Streptocarpus (Cape Primroses) plants are easy growers that blooms all year round. Very easy to grow from seeds and care about. This variety is a cross between two hybrids (you can see them in the first picture), so be prepared for surprises in variety of colors and shapes in the offspring. Since both parents are compact growers your seedlings will likely grow on smaller side too. The seeds are very tiny, dust-like and need to be handles with care. There are approximately 25 or more seeds in a package. Mailing is world wide by regular mail envelope (no tracking, sorry). To Canada and USA it might take up to 10 business days, to other parts of the world it can be even a month or two. I do not have any control over this.If you buy 5 or more varieties I will send you a gift pack of seeds of your choice of same or lesser value (please indicate your preference and a second choice). To grow Streptocarpus from seeds you can use a shallow container filled with peat moss mixed with Perlite (without any added fertilizer) 1:1. It should be wet but not soggy. Spread your seeds evenly on top of your soil by tapping on your hand holding the package and cover with transparent lid. Place in well lit place and practice your patience :). Seedlings can start to emerge from 2-3 to 8 weeks. From time to time you need to mist the soil using a spray bottle. When seedlings are about 2-3 weeks old you can spread them out by gently lifting with a toothpick and placing them onto new place burying the stem to the level of the first leaves. Or simply put them back on the same spot if they are already at a good distance from each other. (if you are too scared to handle those tiny ones you can wait another little while till they grow a bit bigger). Then in about one month you can transplant them into their individual containers and at about 4 month into bigger pot. They may start to bloom quite early when only having two or three leaves. If this happens I suggest to remove all growing buds until the plant has a good rosette to have enough energy for both bloom and growth. This is one of the ways to grow them and there is a plenty of information on their care available. Hope you enjoy this exciting process of growing this unusual beauties from seeds to flowers :).
