The process takes about six-step-process from start to finish. Most piece often require involving the work of multiple artisans. Drilling machines are used in the first stages to attain the rough outline of the intended piece and eliminate some of the most difficult and time-consuming aspects of the carving. The wood is cut, the logs are sterilized and dried for 1-3 years in a climate-controlled room. After that the logs get cut into smaller pieces based on the size of the carving. Once the piece is completely dry after 3-6 weeks an artist will roughly shape the carving based on the item that intended to produce. The piece will sit for another 2 weeks to dry then finally a highly skilled artisan will transform the rough outline into a finished product by chiseling all the exquisite details. Finally, the finished item will be sanded down and polished, then coated with olive wax, “special lacquer” to give the object a "natural shine" and ensure its longevity. Please note that the Olive Tree is so sacred to us! No trees are ever harmed in the process of making these works of art. Each piece is made from sustainably sourced wood that we collect on a yearly bases during the pruning of our trees to encourage their growth. Our Olive wood is centuries old that comes from the Holy Land, Bethlehem. These Holy Trees can be up to 2000 years old. We hand select special branches to create all of our designs.
