Description: Offered for sale is a fantastic reproduction of the famous Preening Black Duck by A. Elmer Crowell residing in the important Shelburne Museum collection in Shelburne, Vermont. Please compare the original from the Shelburne Museum (photo 2) to the same photo angle with the reproduction (photo 1). Crowell's Preening Black Duck is considered one of the greatest duck decoys ever created. This decoy is resin but copies the original down to even the exact wood grain, placement of tacks, and raised feather paint (photo 6). This was purchased at the Shelburne Museum Gift Shop a decade ago. The Shelburne Museum did not make many copies of the Crowell Black Duck, so this example is very hard to find. The Black Duck is in very nice condition with a few slight blemishes to the paint. Photo 9 shows three thumbprint size areas where the paint is a little lighter in color. It looks like the paint may have raised slightly. Structurally there are no issues such as breaks, repairs, or cracks. The Black Duck measures 15 inches in length and is 7.5inches high. It displays beautifully. The decoy will be heavily bubble wrapped and mailed in a larger box with plenty of extra cardboard and paper packing material. If you have any questions, feel free to contact me. This is as close to an exact replica that exists. The Black Duck is the only item for sale in the listing, and the stands are not included. Thanks so much for looking!
