Description: For all those collectors of pastels who wish to purchase at least one painting from the known pastel artists, for your consideration is a lovely pastel by the difficult and hard to find "A. DeWitt". A meandering blue stream intersects a serene pastoral landscape. In the distance is a farm house. Dominant pastel colors are blues, greens and whites. A DeWitt pastel painting is included in the late June Rhodes' book, "The Power of Pastels". This picturesque pastel is housed in its original oak frame. The image is approximately 13" by 17" though some of it is obscured by the frame. The framed dimensions are 14.75 inches by 18.75 inches. The frame does have a few minor nicks and scufs, not uncommon for pastels from this era. Some of the pastel has transferred to the glass. Also, there appears to be a water stain at the very top of the sky, though it really doesn't detract. I will leave to the new owner to have the pastel restored, the old wooden backing removed and acid free backing placed to preserve this wonderful artwork treasure for the next 75 years.
