Description: A book so beloved that Boston memorialized it in bronze in their Public Garden! It was no surprise when Robert McCloskey's Make Way for Ducklings won the Caldecott Medal way back in 1941 and the story and wondrous illustrations retain their charm to this day. This copy dates to 1976 and is a 31st printing published with lovely pictorial boards in lieu of a dust jacket. But what makes it really special is that is beautifully signed by Robert McCloskey directly to the title page along with a brief inscription as shown. Condition grades very good overall: the text is pristine, it looks and feels unread; but the prior owner stamped the lower corner of the front endpaper (see photo) and there's mild wear along the extremities of the boards. I love this book for its power to transport the reader back to a simpler and perhaps kinder America and I hope you will love it too.
