Description: This was a difficult piece for me to research- to find even another one. This bowl was crafted by the Jefferson Glass Company, which made opalescent vaseline glass from 1900 to 1907. (The factory closed in 1933.) Under normal lighting, the bowl is a light greenish yellow. However, under a black light, it glows bright green. (See first picture above.) The glass is decorated in bas relief scrolls that are milky white when seen from the outside of the bowl. The reticulated scalloped edge of the bowl is also a milky white. The bowl sits on a short, round foot or pedestal. The pattern is called "Coral" and was made in several colors of opalescent glass, one of which was vaseline glass. Pieces in this pattern are very difficult to find today, especially in vaseline glass. DIMENSIONS: 8 3/4 inches in diameter across the top, 2 inches high, with a 3 inch base CONDITION: This bowl is in excellent condition! There are no chips, cracks, or nicks anywhere on the bowl. PROVENANCE: Obtained many years ago at estate auction in western Pennsylvania, this piece has been a centerpiece from my personal collection but am downsizing. It’s simply a beautiful piece! USE: This would be an outstanding addition to anyone's collection of vaseline glass or antique opalescent glass. However, do not relegate this bowl to your curio cabinet. Show it off as a console bowl or as a centerpiece on your dining table.
