This exclusive series was first introduced in 2016 and was available for a limited time only at Pokémon Centers in Japan. Due to its immense popularity, the Pokémon Center imposed strict purchase limits, making these plush toys incredibly hard to come by. Every month featured a new Pikachu pair, each themed around a cultural or seasonal event of that month. Here’s a look at some of the unique pairs from this collection: January 1月: This Pikachu duo is dressed as Meowth, mimicking the traditional Japanese “lucky cat.” Perfectly posed, they welcome the New Year and bring good fortune. One Pikachu is male, and the other is female, easily identified by their tail shapes. Their Meowth hoodies can be pulled up or down, adding extra fun. February 2月: This Pikachu pair makes the perfect Valentine’s Day gift, designed with an extra dose of cuteness. March 3月: The theme is the Flower Festival (Hinamatsuri) on March 3rd, with the Pikachu duo dressed as traditional Hina dolls. April 4月: Dressed in school uniforms, this Pikachu pair is ready to kick off the new school term, which begins in April in Japan. May 5月: Celebrating Children’s Day, this duo comes with koi fish banners and festive hats, exuding holiday spirit. June 6月: Ready for the rainy season, this Pikachu pair is dressed in adorable raincoats. July 7月: The Pikachu duo is geared up for a fun day at the beach. August 8月: Dressed in Hawaiian outfits, these Pikachus are ready for vacation—August is peak travel season in Japan. September 9月: Celebrating the Tsukimi or “Moon Viewing” festival, this Pikachu pair is adorned in kimonos and holding traditional offerings to mark the autumn full moon. October 10月: As Japan prepares for the harvest season, these Pikachus are gathering berries, capturing the essence of the season. November 11月: As the temperature drops, this Pikachu duo is ready to attend a concert, reflecting the peaceful ambiance of the month. Important Note: The U.S. version of this series, called “Paired Pikachu Celebrations,” differs slightly from the Japanese edition. The U.S. version lacks the monthly themes on the tags, and the March and September plush toys are exclusive to Japan.
