Description: This is a beautiful and antique Dutch Delft style garniture, of three large vases with farms sceneries of cattle / cows. Produced between 1890 and 1914 by Petrus Regout in Maastricht, the Netherlands. The vases show within the cartouches Dutch cattle sceneries from the Dutch painter J. Vrolijk (Jan or Johannes Martinus Vrolijk 1846-1894, a Dutch painter famous for his landscapes and farm sceneries). If you look carefully, you will see a small "n J. Vrolijk" written within each cartouche (which is short for "naar J. Vrolijk", meaning "after J. Vrolijk"). The cartouches are surrounded by stylised leaf and flower decorations. The decorations have been applied by transfer print, with some additional handpainted details around the rim of each vase.Made by: Petrus Regout & Co. (after 1899 also known as "De Sphinx")in excellent condition, especially considering these vases are over 100 years old. The glaze is still as good as new, with no damages or wear. There is almost no visible crazing, except a bit on the inside of the lid and the collar of the baluster vase. The inside of all vases is fully glazed and very clean.Comes from a convent in Belgium. Measures of the large one 12,5x5,2 inch, and the 2 small ones 12x4,5 inch. Shipping and handling US$ 57,00 by insured priority mail and tracking number. Petrus Regout & Co: This factory was based in Maastricht, in the southernmost point of the Netherlands. It produced from 1836 to 1958 decorative ceramics and dinnerware in a variety of styles. Most often the decoration was applied by transfer print: a method whereby a monochrome print on paper (from an engraved copper or steel plate) was transferred by pressing it onto the ceramic piece. This transfer process was done by hand. Although transfer printed items lack the vibrancy of handpainted items, the process does allow for the production of beautiful, detailed and decorative items, which would be very expensive or impossible to produce by handpainting. The Delftware (blue and white Delft blue) produced by P. Regout and other Maastricht factories has a darker blue than the Delftware of other factories in the Netherlands. In 1958 P. Regout merged with Société Céramique (also from Maastricht) to form Royal Sphinx, which continued to produce Delftware until 1969.
