Description: This painting was originally commissioned by a vice president of the Baldwin Locomotive Works in Eddystone, Pennsylvania, William "Bill" Winterrowd, in 1941. It was the very first locomotive painting by this artist who went on to become famous for his railroad paintings. This original watercolor painting has never been reproduced in print and remains a one-of-a-kind original. After the Baldwin vice president died the day after Pearl Harbor, it was given to the Superintendent of Motive Power for the Western Maryland Railway, C. J. Wolfe. When he passed away it was given to George M. Leilich, Vice President of Operations for the Western Maryland. When he passed away in 1993, it was inherited by his son, Robert H. Leilich who treasured it since then. Downsizing to an Independent Living Facility, he wants to pass it on to someone who will equally treasure it. The original correspondence between George Leilich and Howard Fogg, certifying its date of painting and its originality is included with the painting. Painting dimensions are 21” x 15”. Frame dimensions are 29.5” x 24.5”.
