Description: Original FD-29(2) poster for Oct. 7-8 1966 show at the Avalon Theater, in San Fransisco. CA. Show was for Jim Kweskin Jug Band and Big Brother & the Holding Co. (Janis Joplin). This is the original, (more rare) 2nd printing. Excellent condition/color with only tiny pinholes in corners. One of the most recognizable and popular posters of the era,collectors can expect to pay the price for a top-condition original as only2,000 copies were printed. Even the second print commands a hefty price, as there were only 1,000 of those printed. The original poster was printed on vellum and measures approximately 14″ x 20″. The notation “The Bindweed Press San Francisco” appears in the lower right corner. The second print poster was printed on vellum and measures approximately 14⅛″ x20″. This poster also carries the Bindweed credit and has the notation “29(2)”in the lower left corner. The third print poster was printed on un-coated index and measures approximately14″ x 20″. The notation “29(3)” appears in the lower left corner and the Bindweed credit has been deleted. A forgery exists that carries the “San Francisco Poster Co.” credit. Again, this is the rare, 2nd printing - designated as FD-29(2).
