Description: Absolutely massive Confederate Early D-Guard Knife This bowie would have no trouble passing as a short sword! 16-7/8" L Double Edge Blade, retains a very slight sharpness. Approx. 2-3/8" W near the grip The blade is on the thinner side, measuring approx. 3/16" at it's thickest 4-5/8" Hilt Thick Iron D-Guard, peened at the pommel Single Piece Rounded Wide Grain Wood Grip Looks to be a blacksmith crafted piece, no markings evident on blade or guard no sheath Measures approx. 21-1/2" Total Length Great addition for any collection! Condition:Good overall condition considering the age. The blade shows heavy pitting along both sides and blackening with speckled oxidation. The edges show multiple nicks from use, and the tip is slightly rounded. The iron D guard also shows heavy pitting and oxidation, with multiple dents and nicks along the edges.
