Comments: This photo was originally part of a collection of a couple dozen Carte de Visite (CDV) images of students and faculty from the school year 1881-1882 at Westfield Normal School. The school was founded in 1838 by noted educator and social reformer Horace Mann as the first public co-educational college in America without barrier to race, gender, or economic class.
