Perfect to be mounted on a ribbon bar and ready to go! The condition is perfect sealed as new. I suspect it to be maybe 10+ years old bought a whole set of them that appears to be all for 1 recipient. Original tag from when it was purchased at the Cherry Point PX many years ago still on the back! The Selected Marine Corps Reserve Medal is the earliest Reserve Good Conduct Medal in existence. Dating back to 1925 as the Fleet Marine Reserve Medal it was changed to the Organized Marine Corps Medal and in 1984 was renamed the Selected Marine Corps Reserve Medal. Historically it was awarded for 4 years good conduct and service in the Marine Reserves. This was changed in 1996 to mirror the regular service GCM to 3 years!
