Description: This listing is for a gorgeous piece of rare Meiji period Japanese porcelain. (1856- 1914). A fabulous coffee set comprising a coffee pot with fitted lid and three coffee cups/cans with matching saucers. All 8 pieces are intricately hand decorated with underglaze blue dragons on a dusky pink graduated glaze. These rare examples were produced by Nishiura Enji in the Meiji period . (1856- 1914). The coffee pot and saucers are hand signed in the bases. See pics. This set is fashioned from a delicate fine white porcelain. More information can be found in Gisela Jahn's book, Meiji Ceramics and similar examples of Nishiura Enji works have sold at Christie's and Bonhams auction house in the UK for high values. Nothing too serious! See pics! these would have been created in the firing process. One cup has a tiny nibble on its rim (so small I nearly missed it) and another cup has a small nibble on its base. No major chips or damage ! Overall a fabulous set in exceptionally good antique condition. A Worthy addition to a first class collection. Rest assured these will be carefully packed for safe transit.
