Description: ORIGINAL 1976 FIRST RELEASE ISSUE ALFRED HITCHCOCK'S THE LADY VANISHES (1938) ©1938 Alfred Hitchcock JAPANESE MOVIE CHIRASHI MINI-POSTERS (HANDBILLS) Japanese movie chirashi are “mini-movie posters”, commonly called handbills or flyers, used to advertised movies in Japan, and are typically distributed in limited quantities inside the theaters at the time of the original theatrical release of the film in Japan. Chirashi are intricately designed with artwork, characters, and scenes from the film very similar to the images shown on the larger movie posters. What is unique about Japanese chiarashi is that much of the artwork is custom created for the Japanese movie market with a distinctive Japanese design which will often look quiet differently to the artwork in the United States and other countries...in many cases the design is superior. CHIRASHI ARE USUALLY DOUBLE SIDED AND B5 SIZE (18cm X 26cm). SOMETIMES CHIRASHI MAY HAVE TWO OR MORE PAGES. Chirashi's serve as a physical memento of the movie-going experience in Japan and are considered collectibles due to their CONDITION, RARITY, LIMITED AVAILABILITY, MOVIE POPULARITY, AESTHETIC APPEAL AND POSTER DESIGN. Movie chirashi are considered “used” the moment someone picks it up to view, and, therefore, may have general signs of handling such as edge wear, wrinkles, creases, a minute chip or unobtrusive smudges. For those reasons it is indeed rare to find a movie chirashi absent from imperfections and blemishes. However, some chirashi's are unused and remain in the bin. These unused chirashi's, if handled, protected and stored away properly, will remain highly sought after. Many unused chirashi's are very rare with the perfect ones usually graded in NM-M “used” condition. Due to their handy size and low cost they are, by far, the most popular size poster among Japanese collectors as well as movie memorabilia collector’s worldwide.[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[ Shipped right here in the USA in a matter of just couple of days instead of possibly months from overseas sellers not to mention who knows what the package will look like when you get it. ]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]This the ORIGINAL 1976 FIRST RELEASE MOVIE CHIRASHI HANDBILL issued by Yokohama TOHO Theater, Yokohama when THE LADY VANISHES was released as the feature presentation on November 20, 1976. We reluctantly grade our chirashi as MINT, as we only sell original and authentic theatre-used chirashi. By this very definition, this grade is "LIKE NEW",but 'used' and therefore cannot be TRUE MINT. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Near Mint Our top grade...most chirashi fall within this catagory. No substantial or significant flaws. But, may show very minor signs of handling: soft edges, a light corner fold, minor surface wrinkles. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Excellent No major flaws that detract from the poster, but may have some of the following: tiny or light corner folds, indentations from storage, very minor tear along boarder only, age discoloration. Most collectors would be happy with this grade. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Very Good Has a visible defect such as a crease, or an accumulation of minor defects. Details of imperfections will be listed. This grade is still more than suitable for framing - but collectors that are fanatical about condition should wait for a better copy to come available. Bear in mind that we reluctantly stock posters in this grade.. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Unacceptable We do not sell chirashi in this grade. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Wrinkles are relatively small, unintentional indentations from general handling (most posters have wrinkles), but, does not break or cut through the skin of the poster. Creases are indentations which break or cuts through the poster.
