Description: A very clean copy of the highly collectible 1966 album The Acid Test, featuring Ken Kesey and the Grateful Dead, and autographed by Acid Test founder Ken Kesey. Kesey has signed the front cover just to the left of his image, writing 'My god look it's Ken Kesey,' with the end of the 'y' forming an arrow pointing to his face. The psychedelic artwork also features a small photo of Jerry Garcia, Kesey, and Pigpen (to the right of the āDā) and a photo in the lower left corner of Kesey and other Acid Test participants. The first recording session at the Bay Area studio Sound City was an in-studio Acid Test featuring Ken Kesey, the Grateful Dead, and members of the Merry Pranksters. This was considered to be the eighth Acid Test, and took place on January 29, 1966, one week after the Trips Festival. Phil Lesh recalled in his memoir Searching for the Sound, 'Kesey had been busted twice in the weeks before the Trips Festival and had been forced to attend incognito, in a silver space suit complete with a mirror-visor helmet. Therefore, the very next weekend we held the last Acid Test in San Francisco, at the Sound City Recording Studio, just before Ken split to Mexico. A greater contrast to the cosmic imagasm of the previous week can't be imagined. This was really Pig's night at the Test; usually, when he wasn't onstage, he would retire to a cool place with a bottle, and from there observe the craziness passing by. But tonight, even though he wasn't partaking of the Sacrament, he was holding court in his finest manner, playing acoustic guitar and signing songs with Jerry and other assorted folks. It was the neatest psychedelic jug band scene imaginable, and very warm and inclusive as an environment.' Sound City issued the results as an album on their small independent label, which sold exceedingly poorly. The barely played disc is in Near Mint condition; the cover is Excellent condition. Copies of The Acid Test album have sold for up to $2500. This is the only signed copy we know of. With Recordmecca's written lifetime guarantee of authenticity.
