Description: Herons, Mary Golay, 1905. 39x105 cm This is an original antique lithograph by British illustrator of the art nouveau, Mary Golay, whose works featuring bird and plant life were generally considered to be her most accomplished and, to this day, desirable. The veritable quintessence of art nouveau. Print has some wear, including edge tears, mild surface dirt, creasing/rippling and and would benefit enormously from linen-backing and a little retouching. Poster is very largely complete however and around some of the tears the surface paper merely needs to be teased back into position by your restorer. Please study the images which provide a good indication of the overall condition. Poster is printed on quite a heavy stock vellum-type paper. Lovely, subtle colours are well retained along with some accenting in gold ink that appears not to have photographed very well - gold inks can tend to photograph brown as the Mucha collectors amongst you will know. This is one of three Golay avian-themed pieces I have for sale currently. Another features herons, a third, swans. Please let me know if you’d like to pursue the three as a single lot. Poster will be sent with tracking and insurance.
