Glorious Antique Peters & Reed Pottery Pereco Ware Japanese Garden Dish 10" Wide

Description: Featured in this auction is a beautiful, antique low bowl or garden dish made by Peters & Reed. This vase is unmarked but is identified in the collector's guide Sanford's Guide to Peters & Reed / The Zane Pottery Company by Martha and Steve Sanford as the Japanese Garden Dish from the highly-desirable "Pereco" line. The name "Pereco" was derived from the company's name, PEters & REed COmpany. This heavy and substantial piece has a motif of berries and branches encircling the shoulder. The stilt marks from the kiln are visible on the base, and there is a tiny, glazed-over indentation at the top rim. The Pereco line glaze is a beautifully-mottled, matte cucumber-green color which is most visible inside the garden dish and on the base. There are also some tiny glaze pops on the bowl. This piece is in excellent condition with no chips, no cracks, no crazing, and no repairs. There are tiny scratches and a small bit of mineral staining (and possible mineral residue) on the interior, but overall the piece is very clean. The dish appears to have been gently used. This garden dish most likely dates to the early 1920's and is approximately 10" wide, 2" tall, and 8" wide at the top rim opening. Check out all 10 photos!
