The bass was recently upgraded with Alembic J-Bass Activator pick-ups and Signature electronics with 3-way Q switch. NOTE FROM DENNIS FANO REGARDING THIS GUITAR:“Hello, Wow, that takes me back a bit! I did indeed "build" that 8-string bass for a friend of mine back in 1989. It was one of the first, if not the first, instruments that I tried my hand at when I took an interest in guitar making. I wasn't keeping records at that time but I do know that the body and neck were custom ordered from Warmoth Guitars. I believe the body is alder with a flame Koa top and the neck is maple with either an ebony fingerboard, and has a matching koa peghead veneer.It's a cool bass. It was really built to suit X’s playing style. I know that he was influenced by Sting who played an Ibanez 8-string bass. Cheers!
