Description: This dime, minted in Philadelphia during the year 1999, features a huge error known as an uncentered broadstrike. This type of error happens when the retaining collar either breaks or, more likely in this case, fails to deploy and the planchet expands as the two dies come together. The image is complete on both faces, but a part of the blank planchet is visible. The coin is the correct weight for a dime but, because of the expansion, is considerably thinner and the edge is smooth. Although it is over twenty years old, this dime is in very nice condition and retains a lot of its original detail.
