Description: This wonderful limited edition ‘Forty Winks: Saw-Whet Owls’ plate is the second issue in the Baby Owls of North America series of collector’s plates sponsored by the Society for the Preservation of Birds of Prey, produced under the hallmark of the Edwin M. Knowles China Company in a firing period limited to a maximum of 150 firing days. From 1991, the plate is from the artistry of and signed by Joe Thornbrugh, and numbered on the back (12857A). The plate measures approximately 8 1/4” in diameter and comes in its original box along with the certificate of authenticity (COA) and literature about the owls and the artist. Well cared for, the plate is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks or scratches. The image on the plate is still bright and vibrant and is completely intact. Please note the plate is an art object not for food use as rare pigments used for color fidelity may be toxic.
