If you own a First Gen MINI Cooper and do some research you will find the front upper strut mounts are made from simple flat steel and are pretty weak. Since they are weak over time and hitting pot holes or bumps in the road they will bend. When they bend you will see the sheet metal on the body bend up. This bending up is commonly known as "mushrooming" as it makes a dome shape. This effects the alignment and can cause tire wear.These Craven Speed Strut Tower Defenders are the solution to prevent this bending and mushrooming. These plates can simply be installed in under five minutes as the bolt to the strut mounts on top of the towers and support the mount so it can't bend and ruin the alignment. The plates are almost a half inch thick which gives you the strength and support you need to protect the towers and mounts. Fits:2002-2006 R50 MINI Cooper2002-2006 R53 MINI Cooper S2005-2008 R52 MINI Convertible and Cabrio S2006 R53 MINI Cooper S JCW GPand above John Cooper Works Models. Install:Open hood, do NOT jack up car you want it flat on ground.Remove the 3 strut mount nuts on the strut towers.Install the new Cravenspeed stud extensions.Slide the new Cravenspeed defender plates down on the studs.Then lastly install the large nuts on the stud extensions to hold the plates in place.Do the other side and you are done. These will ONLY fit the First Gen 1 MINIs, will NOT fit any other years.
