Description: An interesting letter from Mackintosh & Co of Calcutta regretting that they have failed to sell 17 copies of the Military Calendar sent on Consignment, and advising that auction is the best option., together with their account to date. With Sir John's autograph draft reply on the second page, expressing surprise at their failure but encouraging disposal. Sir John Philippart responds: ' I must confess my surprise at the calendars not having been demanded of your house as since I forwarded them to you I have sent 35 copies to individuals at Calcutta or their agents there agreeably to orders & which have been pd for; and from Bombay to Madras I have had considerable remittances for the copies I forwarded to the merchants at those Presidences' 2pp with page of accounts.
