Description: This mortoniceras ammonite (stand included w/purchase) was found in a “mixed” formation creek (I believe this one is from a Weno exposure) in mid-November, 2024 in Johnson County, Texas west of the Chisolm Trail toll road. I prepared this ammonite using my dremel 290 to remove the soft matrix covering the inner whorls. I didn’t prep the backside, if any of you want a project for your leisure time. Its estimated age of 90-100 million years old places it in the age of dinosaurs, when a vast sea known as the western interior seaway covered the middle of the North American continent.
