Antique Victorian Era Gold Gilt Wooden Picture Frame

Description: A magnificent Victorian era gold gilt frame that is in such excellent condition that I must say it's the best condition Victorian Frame I have ever carried in my shop! It measures 17-1/2" long x 15-1/2" Wide and has a 2" depth. It can accommodate an artwork or photo that measures 8" wide x 10" long with the edges of the picture that size being covered by a 3/8" overlapping border around the perimeter of the chosen artwork or picture. The front of the frame features motifs of floral designs, with rosettes, daisies and leaves on the outermost edge that is 2" wide, with the entire frame being surrounded by a gold button border with small flowers in-between each button. The frame also features a tufted-like looking side panel with gold gilt coloring that shimmers very brightly. I can not tell if that part is actually gold leaf or not, but it does have a strong appearance of being so. I have been given some friendly feedback from someone in the eBay community who is a dealer, that this design on the frame is from an aesthetic movement during the Victorian era. They also let me know that the designs are most likely made of composition, but not gesso, which is more fragile. The back has large screw eyes, and what appears to be a replaced wire as airplane wire was not available during the Victorian era and came later. An original wire would most likely have been a plain, solid wire. The large eye hooks appear to also have been replaced, which is insignificant and does not affect the value, but it must have been decades ago as they are a very old style metal and wide, which causes the picture frame to slightly hang on a slant, so that the subject framed would easily be seen when someone looked up at the wall. The back of the frame has been nailed together with old forged nails that are square, giving an indication of the age of the frame. The frame has some very minor separation in the upper right-hand and lower left-hand corners of the frame, which is acceptable for a frame of this age with the nature of wood swelling and contracting with changes in seasonal humidity.
