Description: For sale is an antique hand-painted Mary spinning yarn/spindle distaff pin/brooch front only. This item looks as though it was once a pin, but the backing and pin mechanmism are missing. Now there is just a piece of cardboard-like material left. The picture on the front of this pin is hand-painted. Surrounding the picture is a metal edging. This item measures approx. 1 1/2" wide x 1 3/4" high. The image is protected by a glass covering, or it is also possible the image was painted on the inside of the glass. Also, the glass is not flat but has a small curve to it. This item is antique and has a lot of age and wear including discoloration, loss of the gold-tone coating on the metal, and imperfections in the glass. . See photos for details.
