Description: Antique etching with accented with aquatint of Castel Sant'angelo in Rome by Antonio Aquaroni. Dimension of the entire print is 7.5 inches by 10 inches. Mated the print is 10 inches by 12 inches. It is one of two works by Acquaroni that I have on eBay. The artist worked for the National Chalcography and was a skilled chalcographer, trustworthy in the documentation of the represented places. The engraving is titled on the lower center. On the same line, on the left, the print is signed A. Aquaroni dis., whilst incise is inscribed on the left. Below the titled at the center is a publishers blind stamp. "Antonio Acquaroni (Italian 1800 - 1874 ) Acquaroni was an 19th Century artist who was born in 1800. Antonio Acquaroni's work has been offered at auction multiple times, with realized prices ranging from $94 USD to $375 USD, depending on the size and medium of the artwork. Since 2017 the record price for this artist at auction is $375 USD for Marcus Aurelius Column, Rome, sold at Jackson's in 2020. The artist died in 1874."
