Description: [zipedit] ; ITEM TYPE/SUBJECT: antique postcard of Hands Across the Sea, showing a woman and a man's arms, hands clasped.....and in the background are ships in a harbor (two sailing ships steamships). A detail I notice is that the lace on the woman's blouse looks like a crown...so possibly even to the end of Victoria's reign?...but more likely simply indicating the mother country, not specifically a queen.... MAKER/MARKS: Star Photo Company DIMENSIONS: approx 3 1/2" x 5 3/8" POSTMARK: no CONDITION: antique postcard with typical wear, smudginess, age toning...... It was in an album approx 100 years....and whoever put it in the album also put 1 small tape strip to secure .(see photo, I have left it) ....I would just cut the tape flush with the side of the card, as trying to remove it will damage the card...It is minor, adjacent to the outer rim, and nothing to fret over. I REMARKS: This was from estate of Mormons, an ancestor was a missionary in New Zealand at turn of the century.....and they also traveled extensively when going to and from NZ, probably through Australia to get to NZWill be shipped in stiff mailer.
