Description: FROM MADEIRA WITH LOVE...! Found in an estate liquidation on Madeira Island Portugal, from the collection of a retired Arts and Design Professor. Antique Portuguese Azulejos Wall Tile dating from the 18th/19th Century, considered the Baroque Period. Hand painted, I believe this would have been a border tile in rich Cobalt and Yellow manganese tin glazes. The tile had been previously set and is being offered as Architectural Salvage. The tile measure 5 3/4 inches square. It has defects ranging from small edge chips, corners as well, easy to see in the photos. Additionally, expect to find some scattered pock marks and bubbles in the glaze, all occurring in the making. Not cracked, repaired or retouched. I inserted a standard size playing card in one photo as a reference for size. Any Portuguese Azulejo Wall Tiles from this period are considered a rare find. MUCH OBLIGED
