This was the last important type of majolica designed by Wedgwood. The pattern was characterized by the use of flowers, birds, and other motifs on white or pale backgrounds. This new style of decoration was in keeping with the Aesthetic Movement (1970-1890). This sophisticated Wedgwood plate offered is a beautiful example of Argenta ware. A prunus garland goes over and under three fans. Insects hover in the background. The plate is 6.5 inches in diameter. The piece has a complete set of marks, all impressed. There is the word "Wedgwood", the British registry mark, and other marks telling about the piece. For example, the use of the letter "M" signifies a piece made between 1873 and 1888. The plate has been lovingly treated over the years and has no discernible flaws- a really prime example of Wedgwood majolica.
