Antique 230+ year old, 1790s Regency Era Ladies Leather Slippers Shoes

Description: Ok, these ladies leather slippers from the Regency Era (1790s) are beyond EPIC!!!! They are entirely hand made of differing thicknesses and kinds of leather, linen and silk. The stitching on the uppers is so crazy small, and the blue silk inserts have tiny stitching around the edges of the leather to keep the silk put, you can see them in the photos. The bottoms are made of leather and hand stitched again. The lasts are not identical as shoes from this era were made for each individual foot, specifically for the wearer. At one point in time, strips of the same color of blue silk were sewn around the opening edge of the shoes and the seams on the sides and up the back also had silk ribbon or fabric sewn to cover the seams. You can see a bit of ivory ribbon in the last photo that had previously covered the back seam. The shoes will need some mending at the back seam as the silk thread has broken and the seams need resewing. For the photos I used batting, cotton quilting and clips to fill the shoes and show them as a they would have looked with a foot inside. There is some pitting in the leather, I would assume from the shoes being worn over gravel. Shoes from this age are exceedingly rare to find, let alone purchase. I asked an expert in shoes from earlier than this era to the 1930s what she would date these to and she said the 1790s. If you would like to know her name, I will let you know in private messaging. Needless to say, these shoes would be an incredible addition to any shoe or fashion collection!! Please see all photos for condition and any flaws.
