Description: Antique 1800s Huge Hand Woven Wood Gathering Basket w Handle 26.5 x 17.5" This wonderful, late 1800s gathering basket is huge! It measures 26 1/2" long x 17 1/2" wide x 10" high. The handle adds another 7", for a total height of 17" high. The basket has attractive patina and features wood handwoven and larger bent wood straps attached at the tops with small nails. The bentwood handle is sturdy, though it has a little small split on one side that does not go through to the underside. This basket was my great grandparent's and they used it on a farm to gather vegetables and flowers from the garden. Due to the age of the basket, I would use this as display only. Condition: Good condition for age and nice construction. Some split wood areas on the sides and corners. The two bottom support wood strips (feet) are loose and can be moved back and forth - perhaps some glue or tiny nails would remedy that if one wanted to.
