ANNE JEFFREYS - MAGAZINE PHOTOGRAPH SIGNED CO-SIGNED BY: DAVID WAYNE, LISA KIRK, KEITH ANDES, SIR JOHN GIELGUD, JAMES MASON, BARRY NELSON, DOUGLASS WATSON, JAMES MITCHELL - HFSID 299114 ANNE JEFFREYS, DAVID WAYNE, LISA KIRK, KEITH ANDES, SIR JOHN GIELGUD, JAMES MASON, BARRY NELSON, DOUGLASS WATSON and JAMES MITCHELL Nine actors and actresses renowned for their stage work sign a 9x12 magazine page showing them performing. Magazine Photograph signed: "Anne Jeffreys", "Jim Mitchell", "David Wayne", "Keith Andes", "John Gielgud", "Lisa Kirk", "Barry Nelson", "James Mason" and "Douglass Watson" in red ink, 1 page (front and verso), 9x12. Magazine page featuring black and white images, showing scenes from several stage performances including Street Scene, The Cradle Will Rock, Sweethearts and Music in My Heart. Trained in voice at an early age, ANNE JEFFREYS (1923-2017) had her first movie role in the tuneful Rodgers & Hart adaptation of I Married an Angel (1942). After appearing in a series of "B" westerns and crimer films, she turned to symphonic and stage work including Tosca, Street Scene and the Broadway musical My Romance. Jeffreys and her husband, Robert Sterling, appeared in the TV version of Topper, television's first fantasy sitcom (1953-1955). JAMES MITCHELL (1920-2010) is best remembered for his role as Palmer Cortlandt on the television soap opera All My Children (1979-2010). The role earned him seven Daytime Emmy nominations. The winner of a 1947 Theatre World Award for his performance in Brigadoon (1947), he appeared on Broadway stages for over thirty years in several musicals including Billion Dollar Baby (1945-1946), Livin' the Life (1957) and Mack & Mabel (1974). DAVID WAYNE (1914-1995) spent most of his screen time at 20th Century-Fox, where, among other things, he did two co-starring stints with Marilyn Monroe (1952's We're Not Married, 1953's How to Marry a Millionaire), played theatrical impresario Sol Hurok in Tonight We Sing (1953) and portrayed schizophrenic Joanne Woodward's long-suffering husband in Three Faces of Eve (1957). Actor and singer KEITH ANDES (1920-2005) made his film debut in The Farmer's Daughter (1947). He played mostly second leads in several action films, including Blackbeard the Pirate and Away All Boats (1956), and Andes also starred in three TV series: This Man Dawson (1959-1960), Glynis (1963) and Paradise Bay (1965-1966). A fine baritone, Andes toured on stage in the 1960s in starring roles in Lucille Ball's Wildcat and later in Man of La Mancha. LISA KIRK (1925-1990), born Elsie Kirk, dropped out of the law program at the University of Pittsburgh when she was offered a chorus line job at New York City's Versailles nightclub. She went on to appear on Broadway a total of 6 times between 1947 and 1985. Most of her acting work offstage was as on TV; she had 9 guest star TV appearances between 1950 and 1971. A singer, Kirk dubbed Rosaling Russell's singing voice in the film adaptation of Gypsy (1962) and released two solo albums in addition to performing at the Persian Room in New York City's Plaza Hotel. Stage, screen and television actor BARRY NELSON (1920-2007) earned a Tony nomination for Best Actor in a Musical for The Act (1978). He was also seen on the stage in The Moon is Blue (1951), Mary, Mary (1964), Cactus Flower (1965), Seascape (1975) and The Norman Conquests (1976). Nelson also starred in three short-lived TV series in the 1950s, including Hudson's Bay. He is best known, however, for being the first actor to portray James Bond (in the 1954 TV presentation of Casino Royale). Ironically, Nelson played him as Jimmy Bond, an American! He was also seen on the big screen as the hotel manager in The Shining (1980). One of the theatre's greatest legends, JOHN GIELGUD (1904-2000) spent almost 80 of the 96 years of his life appearing in countless plays that saw him portray every major Shakespearean role. He worked up to a month before his death, performing in over 50 films and numerous television productions when he was not busy with his stage work. He won British Academy Awards for Best Actor in 1954 for the role of Cassius in Julius Caesar and Best Supporting Actor in 1975 for portraying Mr. Beddoes in Murder on the Orient Express. He was nominated for the Academy Awards for Best Supporting Actor in 1965 for his role of King Louis VII in Becket and won in 1982 for portraying Hobson, Arthur's valet, in Arthur. English actor JAMES MASON (1909-1984) earned Oscar nominations for Best Actor for A Star Is Born (1954) and Best Supporting Actor for Georgy Girl (1966) and The Verdict (1982). Whether playing Brutus (Julius Caesar, 1953), a master spy (North By Northwest, 1959) or a pedophile (Lolita, 1962), Mason could be counted on for a strong performance. Among his other notable films are Madame Bovary (1949), The Desert Fox (1951), Prisoner of Zenda (1952) and 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea (1954). DOUGLASS WATSON (1921-1989), a veteran of World War II, won a 1948 Theatre World Award for his performance in Antony and Cleopatra and a 1973 Drama Desk Award for Much Ado About Nothing. A character actor in films and television for nearly fifty years, notable credits include Julius Caesar (1953), Sayonara (1957) and The Money Pit (1986). Slightly worn at edges. Otherwise, fine condition.
